New PHDC Incubator Set to Open in December 2019
11/15/2019
When PHDC started in 2013, there was no local group focused on helping Hispanics at a cultural level, addressing hindering cross-cultural challenges for the community. Our vision was centered on creating racial equity, with equal opportunity for all, mainly focused on improving the lives of Latinos in the region. Boosting the Pittsburgh Hispanic population through personal development and other programs soon became a central goal for us.
For the past year and a half, our Beechview space (within Senator Fontana’s Office) allowed us to help Latinos establish new businesses. We guided them through each step of the process from registering a business to creating a business plan and a company website. We are proud to have helped over 50 entrepreneurs create new businesses over time! Read their testimonials here.
The PHDC Incubator was born during those interactions and today as we approach the opening date for our new location at 1555 Broadway Ave. (2nd Floor), we are ELATED at what we've accomplished so far.
The opportunities that will flourish in the new space can’t be numbered. It's modern setup with cubicles, meeting rooms, and co-working areas will enable our community of entrepreneurs to continue exchanging ideas, learn from one another, and expand their growth mindset.
As we prepare to set foot at 1555 Broadway, our mission of sustaining and accelerating the growth of the Pittsburgh region through the promotion of diversity and racial equity continues to be the driving force into the next chapter for our organization.
Finally, we recognize our donors for their generosity and in making this possible for our community - Senator Wayne Fontana, County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, Mayor William Peduto, Councilman Anthony Coghill, The Richard King Mellon Foundation, The Heinz Endowments, Allegheny County Economic Development, City of Pittsburgh Department of Parks and Recreation, City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Works and the Urban Redevelopment Authority.
